SnoreRx Review – New (August 2018) Model
I have used SnoreRx for several years, and it continues to be my favorite Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD). When I heard about the new model for 2018, my first reaction was excitement that this mouth guard would be redesigned and interested to see the features. Although I was comfortable with the status quo, I wanted to see what could be “new and improved”.
Years ago when I tried SnoreRx for the first time, I can remember looking forward to its unique features. Five generations of the product later I can say I am more then satisfied in the product changes implemented by the manufacturer. You can read my original review of the SnoreRx in this article.
The New Design
The 2018 SnoreRx does not disappoint. When examining the new model, I noticed the lighter weight, the larger airflow hole, and a handle for the boil-and-bite process. The bite area had a different, serrated design, and I did notice the easier click calibration.
Before I could start the boil-and-bite process, I had to recalibrate the MAD because the default was set on “3”, in the middle of the calibration range, and this is too large of an advancement for me. It would have been better if the MAD was defaulted at “0” as my settings range between “1-2.”
Although it does say right on the instructions not do this, it worked for me.
Trying it Out
The boil-and-bite process is now easier with the attached handle and the heating time is reduced to 60 seconds. The SnoreRx comes with very precise instructions on how to hold the device correctly. I have done this process so many times that I no longer need instructions, but, honestly, I did find removing the handle to be a bit of a challenge. Although it took me several minutes to remove the handle from the MAD after the impression was made, it really was not a big deal.
After the boil, I popped the device into my mouth, and I was very pleased with the new engineering. The new model has a smaller form factor and more comfortable than the previous design. After the first night using the new SnoreRx device, I found that the larger airflow hole and the light-weight design made for calmer breathing and sleeping. I noticed it was easier to swallow and I did not experience any drooling.
SnoreRx Advantages
The boil-and-bite customization is simple, but even if you get it wrong, just re-heat the device and try again. The calibration is easy to read and easy to set.
This device has no moving parts and can be recalibrated without any separate tools, unlike the VitalSleep which requires a tiny hex tool for adjustment which can be easily misplaced.
There are no springs or metal in the design to cause torsion or continuous pressure. The V-flow technology allows you to breathe through your mouth.
The device is approved by the FDA for snore reduction and has the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AMASS) certification.
The one important thing to me is knowing that all materials that make the SnoreRx device are from, and its manufacturing happens in, the United States.
My Actual Results
Here is a screenshot of my results, with and without the SnoreRx device, when recorded with a snoring app. I can sleep fine with the device after using for so long. However, when you first purchase the device expect it to take up to a week to adjust to.
What Makes SnoreRx Unique?
Like all MADs, SnoreRx holds your lower jaw forward when you sleep to prevent soft tissue obstruction, and this device has technical features not found in others. The calibrator has six positions at 1-millimeter increments to customize the position of the lower jaw comfortable for you.

It is amazingly comfortable; it is wearable for most mouth shapes and sizes, has excellent airflow for mouth breathers, and is suitable for anyone with allergies or sensitivities. Most importantly, it’s incredibly effective.
